“A tranquil cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio honoring lives with timeless dignity.”
PRESS RELEASE
Addressing the Closure of Belmont Park Cemetery Association
At the Belmont Park Cemetery, our mission has always been rooted in respect, dignity, and compassionate care for families and their loved ones. We recognize the deep emotional and cultural importance of these final resting places and remain dedicated to honoring those values, even amidst challenging circumstances.
Due to significant financial difficulties, Belmont Park Cemetery Association will cease operations on June 30, 2025, and transfer ownership to Liberty Township. To ensure continuity, we are working closely with the Township Trustees to transfer ownership of the cemetery under Ohio Revised Code Section 517. The township will assume responsibility for its future operations, and we are hopeful that this transition will be seamless, with no disruption to services.
These challenges are complex and influenced by broader economic and industry-wide factors. The decision to close this cemetery was made after careful consideration and is driven by changes in industry practices, including a cremation rate exceeding 60%, which has impacted the sustainability of our operations.
We understand that this news may cause concern and distress among families and community members. Please know that we are committed to providing ongoing support, guidance, and transparent communication throughout this transition.
We sincerely appreciate the community’s understanding and patience during this time. Together, we will continue to uphold the sacred values of remembrance and peace, ensuring that Belmont Park Cemetery remains a place of dignity and solace.
